Mercedes Slk32 AMG 382PS

Driving an Slk is the ultimate pleasure for a Mercedes Benz fan. In most cases though, all of the owners are seeking some more power which will eventually give them the ultimate experience of a powerful  and classy car which will combine some racing capabilities.At this point we can step in and provide an affordable solution.

The Slk 32 AMG comes with 354ps(260kw) at 6100rpm and 450nm at 4400rpm which is great but not enough for the experienced drivers. After our first measurements we found out that this car  had a bit less power in our awd dyno but this was normal due to the 1xx.xxx kms that was on the clock.Never the less this engine has the potential for far more greater power.

The first thing that was replaced on this car was the original compressor pulley as we needed a little bit more boost from the stock compressor system.As you have already spotted the intake system is coming from the SL55 model since the stock one is also restricted.

The supercharger (a Japanese IHI helical unit rather than the Roots type employed on Mercedes’ four-cylinder Kompressor engines) only operates when the driver demands acceleration, and then at a pressure of up to (1bar)14.5 psi when it is in new condition so the 12% smaller pulley we installed will give us something around 1.2bar (17 to 18 psi).

This car has the stock exhaust system and catalyst so there is still some more power that can be produced easily by replacing the complete system with a sport exhaust and s new generation catalyst.

Here are the initial and final results of the power as stock and tuned.There is also the AFR measurement which is ensuring the best possible result with the safety of the 100 octane fuel and the healthy operation of the engine.

In this case our transmission was automatic and re-enforced by a specialist here in Germany.Originally the car was measured on our dyno and produced 327ps(354ps advertised) and 440nm(450nm advertised) which means that the car has lost some of the power due to the old pulley clutch and some other factors like high mileage and old spark plug cables which were also producing misfiring on idle.

In every case we inspect and analyze the car before and after tuning to ensure that there are no problems that will risk the engine or the drivers safety while the car is being upgraded.

The upgrade produced 382 PS ad 517Nm which was expected as this car is not equipped with an aftermarket exhaust system.

The curve is perfect in every point and the maximum power comes at 6300 rpm(allowed by our new software). We gained also 10kmh more in the third gear by increasing the rev limiter in the software.

In this diagram you can clearly see the afr levels requested by the new software in order to produce more power from this v6 supercharged engine. As opposed to the old factory software the car is running now in the area of 12.0 : 1 Afr until 5700 rpm which we make it richer to 11.2 – 11.5 area since this is the range which the engine needs protection from bad quality fuel or non performing fuel pumps.

The new AFR settings not only are giving more power to the engine but they are also improving the fuel consumption of the car gaining 0.5 liters per 100km in normal driving conditions.
