BMW M5 717PS 1042NM

Talking about monsters? Here is one, the Bmw M5 F10 with a 4.4 liter Biturbo engine and all the mighty of the BMW M family. To be more precise the F10 M5 uses a 4395 cc variation of the S63 4.4L V8 engine called the S63B44TU, which produces 412 kW (560 PS; 553 bhp) at 6000 – 7000 rpm and maximum torque of 502 lb-ft (680 Newton meters) from 1500 – 5750 rpm. It is equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, with the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox only for the US market.

Our client arrived with an already tuned engine management system which in this particular case it is a Dual water-cooled Bosch Mevd17.2.8 installed on the top of the engine directly above the turbochargers.

Since we already have the ability to flash both engine management systems from the obd2 diagnostic port we lost no time in removing the ecus and we went straight to the point.Client needs more power and the only limitation here is the stock downpipes and catalytic converters which the client does not like to remove.

After analyzing the behavior of the old tune we decided to flash (reprogram) the car with our stage 2 software which requires a complete exhaust system but in our case it was only cat-back (remus catback exhaust) exhaust, and here are the results.

The torque before was 968nm and now is 1042nm while the horsepower was 699ps and now is 717ps.Of course the main difference here is the power-band and the torque gains however the power loss that exists between 3200rpm to 4200rpm is proof of the restriction in our stock catalytic system and downpipes. Overall the horsepower is better and the power delivery in lower rpm is smoother than before but we are after all in the limit of the gearbox so the power is more then fine for our client.

Video with this car on our dyno is coming soon so stay “TUNED”
